traditions.

doing
the
MOST
good.

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is one me and my dad do together. The past few years we have started to volunteer to ring the bell for the salvation army at Harmons. Yesterday, (Christmas Eve Eve) we got to ring the bell from 4--6.

what continues to surprise me is the generous Christmas spirit. The power that serving others has on someone. The people you would never guess would donate, the ones who look like they barely have enough money to put food on the table, DONATE. Those who look like they have plenty to give, usually walk by. Small children take money from their own pockets or small purses to donate or practically mow over their parents to get money.

by the end of our shift the bucket literally hit max capacity and would keep popping open.

I love this tradition because standing there and greeting all these people & seeing the joy on their faces that comes from service and helping others, makes me so happy.

"doing the most good" is very profound, not because anything my help is doing (because frankly, anyone could ring a bell), but doing the most good is everyone who donates effect on me.
