back to the blogging world...

Hello fellow americans.

i'm sorry for the lack of postage. but at least i have learned one thing from my faults of not blogging... LIFE=More INTERESTING when you blog. So i'm back. and hopefully for good!

First post i am dying to write about is my favorite animal...Snails...

"Time sometimes flies like a bird, sometimes crawls like a snail; but a man is happiest when he does not even notice whether it passes swiftly or slowly."
-Ivan Turgenev

Pictured above is a giant African snail, found in an aquarium in Toronto, Canada. yes i held him.
yes he left slimy nastiness all over my hand... and yes i LOVED every second of it!!!!

I have tried to domesticate a few snails in my lifetime. I raised millions of snails as a child, they lived in a HUGE tree out front... that was cool til my brothers introduced my poor babies to a chemical called NaCl also referred to as Salt.

Because of the guiltiness, mental images, and other psychological disorders that were inflicted on me, due to salt + snail ratios, i didn't pick up the art of snail raising again til my freshman year at college...

I successfully watched a snail for a whole 3.5 hours in my apartment in heritage halls. We had many great times together... We got really close and I was starting to get over my insecurities of being a parent.

Then my roommates got home.

One didn't stop when i yelled at her.

Squish.

Baby Snaily the first. Died then and there that day. The last mental image she had was a giant foot. Poor thing, finally was starting to get comfortable among the human race and then...

So you can see why I was hesitant to start yet again ANOTHER snail family. I was walking home almost 20 days ago, and Snaily the second crossed my path. She practically begged for me to take her home so...

We had an instant bond. She LOVED eating my flesh.. literally. It tickled, like butterfly kisses.
i almost made it to my house... there was a crack in the pavement and i tripped... Snaily the second went flying in the air... i pulled some sort of ninja move not even i knew i was capable of pulling... and caught her... I SAVED SNAILY the second's LIFE! and how did she repay me?? After all these memories>>
not to mention sleeping on the frame of my door and eating yellow peppers & leaves & water...
she ran away. :'(
i posted 30 of these. everywhere.
and i got the thought to even mail a missing flyer to Tanner... er Elder Price... (just in case)
AND SURE ENOUGH! HE FOUND HER FOR ME!!! I was so so happy. best day ever. he is taking good care of her.

Moral of the story.
Sometimes life doesn't go the way you want it to.. but maybe people leave your life for a time so they can be God's hands and make other people happy :)

Snaily the second made Tanner really happy and now he is looking after her! so even though i was sad to lose her, i'm glad she made someone else happy :)

in closing to this post, i'd like to include lyrics from The Format's song: Snails
"Snails see the benefits,
Beauty in every inch of life."

Don't get too caught up in the hustle and bustle that you forget to enjoy THIS moment.. do something fun and spontaneous, raise a snail, possibilities are endless.

  1. I didn't realize how awesome it is to have snails as your favorite pets, you always REfind the ones you love, even 1000 miles away! I think I might have found snaily here too, she's frozen though (or just hibernating I think)...quick question since you're such a snail expert or a snexpert as I like to say, how do you tell if have a girl or a boy snail? I imagine it's quick tricky??
